1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo ZJ 4x4
Purchased from Pollard Motors in Boulder CO in 2001 as a lease return vehicle with 39k miles. The Jeep is accident free during my 19 year ownership and, I believe, prior to it. I’ve cared for it continuously, and it’s as cherry as a 22 year old low mileage routine driver of its class is likely to be. Until 2014 it was garaged; since 2014 it’s been parked outside. It’s in excellent mechanical condition; needed repair work has been done without delay. For many years I waxed it in the spring and fall; more recently I’ve waxed it once per year.
I have all service records.
An unusual upgrade: in 2004 I had a Denver shop specializing in modifying vans for wheelchair access (Freewheel Vans) move the driver seat backward, extending seat travel 3, so now instead of being cramped there’s ample leg and arm room. Tall people will like this.
- OEM trailer hitch and wiring harness installed by the dealer
- Transmission cooler
- PML enlarged transmission oil pan and rear differential cover hold ~30% more lubricant than stock
- Rancho RS9000X adjustable shock absorbers
- AirLift 1000 levelers (valves installed beside gas cap)
- Five 235-75-15 Nokian Rotiiva AT snow-rated all weather tires; 4 at 66%, spare at 100%
- Driver’s seat mount moved rearward for more leg and arm room
Creature comforts and smaller additions:
- Driver's seat mount extended for more legroom
- VentVisor side window rain deflectors
- MaxiView blind spot mirrors
- KC Fog lamps
- K&N air filter
- new Kenwood CD stereo with bluetooth and microphone
- Infiniti Reference and Kappa series speakers (plastic cones)
- Longer beam headlamps and brighter LED backup lamps
- LED bulbs throughout interior
- Wiper Shaker (driver’s side)
- Mudflaps
Known conditions
- small engine seal drip (typical Jeep thing) (has never required adding oil)
- beginning of several tiny rust spots on roof
- paint blemishes on hood
- tranny cooler gauge display is intermittent
- rear left door interior panel tends to come partially unsnapped
- I glued a gel pad along the driver’s door armrest
- a few small body and interior blemishes
(I have pictures of most of these little things…)
Recent repairs/replacements (current through 2016)
- Battery
- Emissions sensor/converter
- Power steering pump
- Engine mount
- ECM/PCM computer control module
- Engine report: normal/passed (no troubles, just curious)
- As a COVID protection measure, test drivers will need to wear facial MASKS (NO TEESHIRTS) fully covering the nose and mouth, and disposable gloves which I will provide, for the duration of their test drive and examination, and to drive with all four windows partially open for airflow.
