ATTENTION. Please read EVERYTHING in detail before responding to this ad! I've been screwed a couple of times when buying used vehicles, so I would like to be as honest upfront about the good and the bad about this vehicle to the buyer.
-2015 Subaru Forester Sport Utility (leather interior)
-Miles : 86,828
-Salvage title
-I have been the owner for 3 years, purchased in August 2017, since about 35,000 miles. I am the second owner, purchased right after it was in an accident. The accident occurred in the back right quarter panel of the vehicle.
-Everything in the vehicle is in mechanically good condition (transmission, engine, etc)and it has NEVER had any issues with driving.
-Consistent oil changes every 3 months at the Ford dealer in Camas (JUST had one last week, so next oil change is in 5000 miles)
-Tires have over 50% tread on them
- Tags just renewed September 2020
-the car ONLY starts up when the smart key is put up to the ignition.
-If you lock the car, it will not open with the smart key, but you will have to manually open it by opening up the smart key. The alarm will go off, but once the key is put up to the ignition, the alarm will stop.
-So the 3 options are -
1- Don't lock the car
2- Lock the car, but every time you will manually unlock it, the alarm/horn will found a few times.
I live out in the country so this didn't bother me since I never lock my car.
3 - somehow disable the alarm so it doesn't turn on at all! (then it'll be just like a normal car!) I'm sure a technician can get this done for cheap.
Usually, this kind of issue is caused by a bad key battery, when that didn't help, I took it to Dick Hannah dealership on 10/5/20 to have this issue assessed so that I could accurately describe the issue to the buyer.
The report and inspection showed that this happened because the vehicle was damaged in the back, and whoever fixed it and sold it to me, didn't do a perfect job of repairing it. Eventually, a water leak entered the rear harness and receiver, which caused the keyless entry to stop working as it should. All paperwork is attached showing what needs to be done it fix it, which is $2500 from the dealer. I'm sure it will be MUCH cheaper to fix it from a different auto shop, because dealers always double their prices.
-I have had this issue for about 1 year. I asked Dick Hannah if anything will get worse, and they said that nothing else should stop working in the vehicle besides what has already stopped.
The inspection also showed that the brakes should be replaced soon (although they work totally fine right now)
and the battery (works totally fine though!)
Kelly Blue Book prices this vehicle at $10,000 in FAIR condition.
I understand that this is not taking into consideration the fact that it is a salvage title, PLUS it has the smart key issue.
That is why I am listing this vehicle for $6000. I will wait for the best offer, and will try to sell as close to asking price as possible. I will show it first to people with the best or full offer, and then go down from there.
If you don't care about the key issue, this is an excellent, nice looking, nice feeling car, leather interior, a huge sunroof, 4wd, smooth ride.
If you DO care about the key issue, it has already been priced accordingly.
Thank you, and I am looking forward to selling this to the right buyer.
God bless!
